Derzhavin University's leadership met with a delegation from the Korle-Klottey Municipal Assembly (Republic of Ghana), led by Mayor Alfred Gaisi, as part of a roundtable discussion. Ghana has 261 municipalities, and Korle-Klottey is one of them.
Derzhavin University Rector Pavel Moiseev noted that cities and universities accumulate human and innovative potential. Therefore, cooperation with Korle-Klottey, which is part of Accra, Ghana's capital, has significant potential. It will become another avenue for developing the university's educational and humanitarian ties with African countries, which are a significant focus of the university's international activities.
- We discussed potential projects within the framework of our public diplomacy mission as a university, - commented Pavel Moiseev, Rector of TSU named after G.R. Derzhavin. – Derzhavin University is interested in students from Ghana: we currently have nine of them. Furthermore, relations between Korle-Klottey and Kotovsk have been developing for several years. We agreed that Derzhavin University will be an active part of the cooperation between the two municipalities, facilitating humanitarian dialogue.
The Ghanaian delegation's visit to Derzhavin University has practical implications. The Ghanaians learned about the capabilities of the Institute of Medicine and Healthcare, toured the "Where It's Cozy" rental building, and the university's sports infrastructure.
Both sides—Ghanaian and Russian—are unanimous in the opinion that our countries, their municipalities, and universities should begin cooperation in various fields—culture, education, science, industry, and agriculture. We decided that the nine Ghanaian students at Derzhavin University are a good sign, but only the beginning of the process of building relations. Relations between Kotovsk, Derzhavin University, and Korle-Klottey will become one of the avenues of cooperation between both countries. The region does not currently have trade or economic relations with Ghana. Roundtable participants expressed confidence that the Ghanaian delegation's visit creates a strong foundation for developing cross-regional ties between the Tambov Region and Ghanaian municipalities.
