From April 9 to April 16, the rector of Derzhavin University Pavel Moiseev, as part of the delegation of the Russian-Chinese Friendship Society, visited the People's Republic of China. The purpose of the trip was to strengthen scientific and educational ties between the regions of Russia and China. The delegation visited four major university cities - Guangzhou and Shenzhen (Guangdong Province), Wuhan (Hubei Province) and Beijing. Each of them had a rather intense program, consisting of meetings with the political leadership of provinces and cities, rectors and staff of leading universities and a cultural program.
“The main purpose of our work in China is the internationalization of higher education and studying the prospects for cooperation. I’d like to note a few points. Firstly, I am glad that our established ties with Chinese universities are working: the meeting with the rectors of Hubei Province was held at the premises of Derzhavin University long-time partner, the Pedagogical University of Central China. Secondly, our education is in demand: for example, Derzhavin University graduate Zhu Xu works at the joint university of Moscow State University and Beijing Polytechnic University in Shenzhen, and meeting him was an unexpected and pleasant surprise. Thirdly, we are confidently moving along the path of internationalization: our new partner is the Fenya company, which provides assistance in the interaction of universities in China and other countries. Fourthly, there is mutual interest in developing cooperation in different formats: joint educational programs, internships, summer schools, scientific research. All this is the long-term agenda of Derzhavin University,” says Pavel Moiseev.
