Derzhavin University foreign students Saidi Mohammed Reda from Morocco and Sulemane Ibrahima Faaizah from Togo took part in the third International Forum “Russia – Africa: What’s Next?”
The forum was held at MGIMO. The event brought together more than 1,500 guests from more than 50 countries. Among the guests of honor are the ambassadors of Tunisia, Guinea-Bissau, delegations from South Africa, Algeria, Madagascar and Rwanda, Russian politicians, scientists, and diplomats. The opening ceremony was attended by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Russia's Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya, MGIMO Rector Anatoly Torkunov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Special Representative of the Russian President for the Middle East and Africa Mikhail Bogdanov, ex-Minister of Foreign Affairs of South Africa Lindiwe Sisulu, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, head of the LDPR Leonid Slutsky, Vice President of Transneft PJSC Vladimir Kalanda.
Participants discussed opportunities for cooperation in science and education, religion, academic tourism, subsoil use, business and the fight against fakes. Foreign students of Derzhavin University also took part in the round table “Prospects for cooperation between Russia and Africa through the prism of BRICS expansion”, in the discussion “Horizons of knowledge: partnership between Russia and Africa in education”, the world cafe “Life and study of students from African countries in Russia”, the round table “Reliable information about the Special Military Operation as part of the information war on the African continent,” expert discussion “Doing Business in Africa: Challenges and Advantages.”
Part of the cultural accompaniment of the program was the exhibition of traditional African art “African Art”, a Russian-African concert and a festival of national cuisine.
