More than 200 foreign students of Derzhavin University from 15 countries took part in the Victory Week marathon. This is a new sociocultural project of the university. Its goal is to convey to students from other countries knowledge about the Great Patriotic War and the traditions of celebrating Victory Day in Russia. The Victory Week program included excursions to Tambov memorials dedicated to the Great Patriotic War, a meeting with Victory volunteers, watching patriotic military films, a virtual tour of military museums, a lecture on the role of the Tambov region in the Great Patriotic War. Foreign students also created a patriotic poetic video, participated in the “St. George Ribbon” campaign and sports tournaments in honor of the Victory Day celebrations.
“Derzhavin University is not only an exporter of educational services, but also a transmitter of historical truth and information about Russia, its role in World War II among foreign youth,” says Elena Zueva, director of the Department of International Relations and Migration Registration.
The organizers of the Victory Week project are the Center for Social Adaptation and Intercultural Communication together with the Department of International Relations and Migration Registration of Derzhavin University.
