For the second time, the new academic year at Derzhavin University began with a Freshman Festival. On Knowledge Day, recent applicants who had achieved high academic results and successfully passed the university's entrance exams participated in the event.
At thematic quarters – youth, science, health, international, and art space – first-year students learned about the University and its large-scale educational and infrastructure projects.
A concert stage was set up in the atrium of Derzhavin University. First-year students were welcomed by Derzhavin University Rector Pavel Moiseev and the Minister of Education and Science of the Tambov Region, Tatyana Kotelnikova.
- It is with great pleasure that Derzhavin University welcomes first-year students in its university community. Our team is a place where learning, knowledge, and education are exciting, shaping the worldview of future specialists, and this is the key to building a successful professional career, - noted Rector Pavel Moiseev. – This year, Derzhavin University welcomed an unprecedented number of first-year students – over 3,500, with competition ranging from four to eight applicants per place. The most popular programs were medical specialties, teaching, and journalism. Senior students took the initiative to involve our first-year students as much as possible in various student associations and volunteer movements. I think this is a wonderful time and place to immerse yourself in the Derzhavin University atmosphere and integrate into university life.
During the event, a cooperation agreement and roadmap were signed between Derzhavin University and the Elektropribor plant in Tambov. This significant event laid the foundation for a long-term and mutually beneficial partnership between the University and the region's largest enterprise. The document was signed by University Rector Pavel Moiseev and General Director of the public joint-stock company Alexey Slugin. The integration of engineering education, science, and industry will ensure a seamless trajectory in the training of professional personnel, the development of innovation, and the formation of a mentoring system, which will ultimately determine the progressive technological development of the Tambov Region.
The culmination of the Freshman Festival was the announcement of the winner of the Vladimir Stromov Scholarship, established by the University Academic Council in 2023. A certificate worth 100,000 rubles was awarded to Ksenia Chesnokova, a first-year student of the Faculty of History, Political Science, and Philology, who scored 100 points on the Unified State Exam in Russian. - My high scores on the Unified State Exam in Russian are the result of diligent work under the mentorship of Galina Vasilyevna Glushkova, Russian language and literature teacher who is really a professional in her field. I was preparing meticulously: I systematically did my homework and additional assignments, completed tasks of the Testing and Assessment Materials, practiced solving problems on various online resources, and attended lectures online, - says Ksenia Chesnokova, a first-year student at Derzhavin University. - I've always wanted to study at Tambov State University, as I dream of becoming a Russian language and literature teacher and combining my main job with remote work. At the University, I’m planning to be engaged in academic and research work, participate in literary events, and attend sports clubs and student events. Receiving this scholarship was a huge bonus for me – it's a great responsibility and honor. The certificate also provides significant support for starting my student life. Thanks to the Derzhavin University administration!
