A new season of the Student Hockey League (SHL) championship has begun for DerzhavinUniversity hockey team. In the first round of the competition, Dmitry Zobkov's team hosted the OrelSU team, representing the Oryol State University named after I.S. Turgenev. If the first game day ended only in overtime with a victory for the opponents, then the return match brought victory to the Derzhavin team with a score of 5:3.
This SHL season has already become the 9th in a row. At the opening of the competition, the anthem of Derzhavin University sports teams was presented. Thanks to the author of the words and music, Boris Krasnoslobodtsev, the athletes of our university acquired another significant recognizable feature.
In addition, the rector of the university Pavel Moiseyev and the director of the sports club of Derzhavin University Artem Savelyev addressed the hockey players and guests of the match with welcoming words.
- We are opening a new season of the Student Hockey League. I am very pleased to open it on home ice. I believe that this is deserved, since our Derzhava was at the origins of the formation of these competitions. Our university is one of the creators of student hockey in our country. I want to wish everyone a successful season, I want to congratulate our team once again on its 12th birthday. Together with the guys on the ice are the pupils of our children's hockey club. Isn't that an indicator of our development and progress? I wish our team prosperity. Traditionally - only Derzhava, only victory! ", - Pavel Moiseyev addressed the participants of the match.
On the first game day, Derzhava showed good hockey, but the opponent managed to snatch victory in overtime. The score on the scoreboard was 4:5. In the return match, losing 1:2 after the second period, our team was able to beat the opponent - 5:3.
Thus, after the first round, the team has 3 points out of 4 possible.
- The team's plans for the championship, as in each of our previous seasons, are to take the SHL Champion's Cup. We managed to do this twice, and we can do it in the season that has begun, if we realize our full potential, make every effort to achieve the main goal. The team has been given a task, we will try to fulfill it, - summed up the head coach of the team Dmitry Zobkov.
The next round of the championship for Derzhava will also be held on home ice against Kaliningrad's Zapad Rossii on November 2 and 3.
