International Day of Culture was celebrated in Derzhavin University. The event was organized for the first time on the initiative of foreign students with the support of the Derzhavin Center for Social Adaptation and Intercultural Communication. Derzhavin students presented various creative performances and master classes with the national flavor of their countries. At the master-classes, guests and participants wrote letters in Arabic, Chinese, Hindi, practiced painting mehendi, braiding Afro braids, played Afro drums, decorated traditional headdresses and tried on national costumes from around the world.
– Derzhavin University is an internationally oriented university, where more than two thousand foreign students are studying. We provide every young person with the opportunity to show the versatility of their talents and creative abilities, t present the cultures of the countries from which they come. Therefore, such a vibrant celebration of the International Day of Culture demonstrates in the best possible way both the unity and diversity of the student body of our university, which has managed to unite young people from 56 countries of the world,” says Elena Zueva, director of the Department of International Relations and Migration Registration of Derzhavin University.
