The art space of Derzhavin University hosted a celebration of International Culture Day dedicated to international cooperation, cultural diversity, and protection of human heritage. The event brought together more than 150 students from different parts of the world studying at TSU named after G.R. Derzhavin. The students shared national traditions, art, and cultural characteristics of their countries.
The international festival featured interactive platforms. Guests attended master classes on mehendi and African braiding; candle making; Arabic and Chinese calligraphy. They saw and tried on traditional national costumes, studied souvenirs and attributes of different countries.
– The holiday is celebrated by the international student community of Derzhavin University for the second time and is part of the socio-cultural adaptation program, – noted Elena Zueva, Vice-Rector for International Affairs of Derzhavin University. – Last year, a group of foreign students approached us with a request to assist in organizing an event of student amateur creativity. This became an excellent opportunity to demonstrate the cultural characteristics, traditions, and national color of different countries. This year, for the first time, we are celebrating this holiday in a new art space on the territory of Derzhavin University creative cluster.
The program participants became acquainted with the work of the volunteer movement of foreign students “GoodWin” and the international community “World without Borders”, and were able to enroll in international clubs and communities.
Young talented performers took part in the festive concert. The program included national songs, original musical compositions, and unique choreographic performances of Indian and Arabic dances.
– I am very glad to be in Tambov because here I have the opportunity not only to get good education, but also to get to know the culture of different nations better. At this festival I learned about the authentic traditions of India, Morocco, Algeria and other countries. We all communicated, danced, painted pictures and presented various national images. When we learn the language and traditions, we understand each other much better, and I am grateful for this experience, – says Atia Lamia, a student from Egypt.
