The Freshman Festival was held at the Antey Sports Stadium at Derzhavin University. The holiday that opens the academic year was held in a festival format for the first time.
Pavel Moiseyev, rector of Derzhavin University, senior members of the city and regional administration congratulated 3,643 first-year students on the new stage in their lives.
The Festival began with a parade of student associations and University activists. Seven thematic platforms helped first-year students get to know the University and its infrastructure in more detail: volunteer, patriotic, career, scientific, creative, sports, and the “Movement of the First” platforms.
First-year students who scored 100 points in one of the subjects on the Unified State Examination were awarded certificates for a Personal Scholarship Named after V.Yu. Stromov. This measure of support for talented youth was approved by the Academic Council of the University in 2023. The denomination of each certificate in 2024 is 100,000 rubles. Among the scholarship holders are Sofia Kutukova and Arina Panteleeva, students of the Institute of Education and Social Sciences, and Alexey Logutov and Elena Lezgina, students of the Institute of Medicine and Health Preservation.
- I got 100 points on the Unified State Exam in Russian. I am very glad that Derzhavin University provides such a support. I will spend the scholarship on materials and equipment for studying, - notes Elena Lezgina, a first-year student majoring in Dentistry. - I chose the University based on positive reviews and the programs it offers. My expectations from studying are very positive. I want to start as soon as possible.
The evening ended with a prize drawing, the main one of which was a gift from the rector - an Apple Watch.
In total, in 2024, applicants submitted more than 16,000 applications to the University Admissions Committee. The largest competition was for the programs in Law and Legal Support of National Security - 40 candidates for one student position. General Medicine and Pediatrics come next with over 30 candidates for one student position.
