This year, we celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. As the victorious year of 1945 grows more distant, the true scale of Russian people's heroic feat – saving the world from the horrors of Nazism – becomes ever clearer to new generations of Russians.
Today, the memory of the Victory, which put an end to the Nazi project of global domination in the 20th century, serves as a warning to the world against the revival of neo-Nazism and the militarization of all aspects of life, and offers humanity a chance for a peaceful future. It is no coincidence that the Victory of the multinational Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War has become the primary target of speculation and falsification by destructive forces. The response to these provocations will always be the unity of the Russian people, the defense of historical truth, and the preservation of the memory of the heroes of those fateful years.
- On the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, we remember the heroic deeds of our people, who fought for four long years on the front lines and on the home front. The war touched every family, every workplace, said Pavel Moiseev, Rector of Derzhavin University. - The Derzhavin University community holds sacred the memory of our predecessors – students, faculty, and staff of our university who took part in the Great Patriotic War. For each of us, this is a personal history. We bow deeply to the war veterans and home front workers! Happy holiday! Happy Victory Day!"
