The National Research University Higher School of Economics has launched an educational project, "Corporate Demographic Standard." This is essentially a professional development course for company executives and regional government officials. The inclusion of businesses, universities, and other major regional actors in the national policy to stimulate birth rates requires the development of new forms of work at the level of individual organizations and even individual families.
As part of this project, Pavel Moiseev, Rector of Tambov State University named after G.R. Derzhavin, delivered a lecture at the HSE titled "Corporate Demographic Standard at Tambov State University: Best Practices and the Path to a Corporate Care Service." Derzhavin University was one of the first universities to develop, implement, and test a comprehensive program to support student families and student parents.
"At the initiative of the Mendeleev Institute of Demographic Policy, we initially did this with the entire country in mind," noted Rector Pavel Moiseev. "The idea was that our experience and developments would serve as a starting point for colleagues from other universities to develop their own demographic programs. In my lecture, I tried to highlight the enormous role universities could play in the country's demographic revival. After all, universities are home to a large number of young people at precisely the ideal age to start a family and have their first child. Universities must create a family- and child-friendly environment."
