Victoria Aleksandrova, a first-year student majoring in Foreign Philology at Derzhavin University, won the International Expressive Reading and Calligraphy Competition, held on the initiative of the Institute of International Education at Anshan Normal University (PRC). The competition was held for students of partner universities studying Chinese and all lovers of Chinese culture.
Derzhavin Tambov State University submitted 20 applications to participate in the competition.
Based on the results of the competition, Anshan Normal University awarded Victoria a certificate of international winner in the Expressive Reading category and granted the student the right to free tuition and a language internship in Chinese for the spring semester of 2025 in China.
The best projects were selected by the competition committee, and the next stage involved voting to select the winners, with students from Anshan Normal University taking part.
Victoria Aleksandrova based her work on "The Song of the Dead" by Li E , a famous poet and scholar of the Qing Dynasty. The girl learned about the competition from her Chinese language teacher, Guo Juanjuan , who actively helped her during the preparation process.
– I am immensely grateful to Derzhavin University and my teacher Guo Juanjuan for the opportunity to take part in the competition, for help and support. I also thank the Institute of International Education of Anshan Normal University for bringing my cherished dream closer to reality – to see China and immerse myself in the culture and language of this country. For me, this is a great honor and a step forward to new knowledge and experience, – says Victoria Aleksandrova, a student of Derzhavin University.
The student has been seriously studying Chinese for several years. Through studying the language, she strives to understand the centuries-old history of the ancient civilization, the culture and mentality of the Chinese people.
In addition to completing a language internship, Victoria plans to become familiar with traditional Chinese painting in order to further develop in this area of artistic creativity.
