The first meeting of the working group "Development of National Sports in the Russian Federation" was held in the State Duma under the chairmanship of Deputy Roman Teryushkov. It included organizers of competitions, festivals, heads of federations, scientists - archaeologists, historians, cultural scientists and ethnologists involved in the study and cultivation of national sports. The development of national sports as part of the national culture of the peoples of the Russian Federation is one of the priority areas of the Strategy for the Development of Physical Culture and Sports in the Russian Federation until 2030. In the Strategy of the State National Policy until 2025, national sports are declared as one of the key areas. The meeting of the working group was attended by the rector of Derzhavin University Pavel Moiseyev.
The meeting demonstrated a common desire to develop national sports. The next meeting, at the invitation of the rector of Derzhavin University, will be held in Galdym during the days of Atmanov fists.
