The Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation held a meeting of the working group on issues of support for young student families. Three key issues were discussed: the approval of the concept of "student family" in the Federal Law "On Youth Policy in the Russian Federation", the conduct of the next monitoring of measures to support young student families by the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia, and the formation of a pro-family model in the "single window" format in higher education institutions.
“I am very pleased with what we are doing in this area under the leadership of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia,” – comments Pavel Moiseyev, the rector of Derzhavin University, “ I am pleased with three significant achievements, I believe. Firstly, the fact that the concept of “student family” is planned to be introduced into legislation. This is extremely important for our students, and I am sincerely happy about this. Secondly, the fact that universities are becoming subjects of pronatalist policy as part of demographic policy. They concentrate within their walls approximately 60% of people of their generation. These are colossal human resources, and universities influence them. The state can expand the boundaries of this influence in terms of involving us in the implementation of demographic policy. Thirdly, the place of Derzhavin University in this process. We are the operators of the “Help Mom Study” project. The project is already benefiting student families. Its potential is only growing. We expect a lot from the national projects “Family” and “Youth and Children”. Today I spoke about one of the project’s achievements – the formation of a pro-family model at our university and the opening of a “single window” for young student and faculty families at the Student Multifunctional Centre.”
