The meeting between Rector Pavel Moiseev and the management of the sports club and coaches of the University teams in men's and women's volleyball, hockey, football, basketball, cheerleading, cross-country skiing and polyathlon was devoted to summing up the past sports season and discussing the goals of the season that has just begun.
– The new season started with a great result of the volleyball teams, which traditionally make us happy, comments Pavel Moiseyev. – The main volleyball tournament of the season for student teams of Russia, held by the Student Volleyball Association (SVA), has just ended in St. Petersburg. The men's team of VC "Derzhava" won bronze medals and brought home this beautiful cup. At the same tournament, our girls were eighth. Generally speaking, we played very noticeable roles at the All-Russian and Student competitions. The basketball players were tenth in the championship of the Central Federal District of the Student Basketball Association (ASB), the hockey players played in the final of the Student Hockey League (SHL) in Sochi and came in fourth, the football players rose to the top sports division of the National Student Football League (NSFL) at the end of the season. Our cheerleaders are traditionally successful. Among the skiers and polyathletes are the leaders of the sports season in the country, candidates for master and master of sports of Russia. Today we discussed the problems that exist in the teams - in their staffing, financing, material support, organization of life, training and competition process. We agreed to hold individual meetings a little later in order to improve the situation pointwise and specifically. Our main task is the development of these and other sports. There should be a lot of sports at the university. One of the effective formulas for its development is through the creation of sports teams. Following them, hundreds of our students come to sports.
