The region’s first corporate class designed to develop pre-professional skills for future engineers has opened at the Derzhavin Lyceum. This is a joint project between the Tambov-based Electropribor plant (part of KRET, a subsidiary of Rostec State Corporation) and Derzhavin University.
The opening ceremony took place on the Day of Knowledge, attended by university and company executives, representatives of the Tambov Region Government, teachers, Lyceum students, and their parents.
"Last year, the Institute of Engineering and Technology was established at Derzhavin University, and today we are witnessing a landmark event: the formation of an engineering class. We are steadily developing engineering education, and our students are engaging in the in-depth study of applied disciplines," said Pavel Moiseev, Rector of Derzhavin University. "The students underwent a rigorous selection process; in some areas, the competition this year exceeded five applicants per spot. Some of the region's best students have gathered here, and that is no coincidence. The Derzhavin Lyceum ranks among the top five schools in the Tambov region based on average Unified State Exam scores. Consequently, upon graduation, these students will choose fields of study that will help them build the most successful career paths possible."
The plant’s systematic career guidance work is built on the principles of "seamless" workforce training: school – college/university – enterprise. The partnership successfully launched in 2025. The opening of this corporate class marks a key milestone in the collaboration between Electropribor and Derzhavin University.
"Three corporate classes have already been opened in schools and a technical college in the region under the auspices of the Electropribor plant. Today, we are launching an engineering class based at Derzhavin University. We have created a space for these students where they will learn in an environment that closely mirrors actual production and gain exposure to cutting-edge engineering technologies." "This will enable the enterprise to build a talent pool and train specialists to work right here in the Tambov region," noted Alexey Belov, Production Director at the Tambov Electropribor plant. "The training program includes practical sessions held both at the plant and at the Derzhavin Lyceum, involving our own specialists. Experience has shown that this type of collaboration is effective."
The specialized classroom at the Derzhavin Lyceum is equipped with new furniture, multimedia systems, kits for demonstration experiments, and modern laboratory setups for physics-related academic, practical, and project work; specific training curricula have also been established.
A total of 30 students have enrolled in the 10th-grade class with an engineering focus. They were selected through a competitive process based on their OGE (Basic State Exam) results and scores in relevant subjects. Classes will be taught by university faculty and Electropribor specialists. The two-year program also includes tours of the facility and an introduction to modern manufacturing operations. Upon successful completion of the Unified State Exam (EGE), Electropribor will provide students with targeted referrals for engineering degree programs at Derzhavin University and other Russian higher education institutions.
