A strategic session entitled "Adaptation and Development: Strategies and Practices for Interacting with International Students" was held at MGIMO (Moscow State Institute of International Relations). The session was organized by the Project Office of the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education established at MGIMO. Its main goal is to create a comprehensive end-to-end support system for foreign applicants, students, and graduates of Russian educational institutions in Russia and abroad. Elena Zueva, Vice-Rector for International Affairs at Derzhavin University, and Sergey Khudyakov, Director of the Department of International Relations and Migration Registration participated in the session.
- The strategic session was aimed at developing a much-needed comprehensive approach to improving the efficiency of Russian universities' work with international students, - Elena Zueva comments. - Representatives of more than 50 educational institutions took part in its work. The main skills and knowledge required by specialists to work with international students were analyzed. Existing problems and challenges arising while working with international students were discussed, and successful practices and methods of work were considered. In conclusion, options for a program of additional professional education for employees working with international students were proposed. Such specialists in universities need to be seriously trained.
