During a one-day visit to the Tambov Region, Russian Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov visited Derzhavin University. The visit began with a tour of the building at 6 Sovetskaya Street, which has been extensively renovated thanks to the federal funding. A modern creative cluster has been established within its spaces, providing excellent conditions for modern academic, research, and creative work. The minister was also presented with the University's Student Media Center "Tsunami." During the demonstration, the center's members approached Valery Falkov with the idea of establishing at the University a regional campus for the student media center of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science in the Tambov Region. The minister supported the idea, wishing the students success in their chosen pursuit of realizing their creative potential.
The visit continued at the academic building at 5 Komsomolskaya Square. Valery Falkov visited the student Multifunctional Center and the Derzhava Tech Coworking Space, where young scientists from Derzhavin University presented their developments in biotechnology, green chemistry, nanotechnology, and robotics. Rector Pavel Moiseev then gave the minister a tour of the University campus. Valery Falkov inspected the progress of major renovations to the dormitories, medical and sports facilities, and the Universad Children's Center, which will provide short-term stay and extended-day care for the children of university students and young faculty members.
Falkov concluded his visit to Derzhavin University at the construction site of a rental building, which is almost ready for occupancy. The minister inspected the living conditions for students and families.
- The most positive thing for us is that the minister took such a close look at what we were doing and asked us very carefully what we were planning to do, - said Rector Pavel Moiseyev. - Serious infrastructure development projects always require support. Valery Nikolayevich promised it if we can convincingly present our case. We need to strengthen our social, medical, and scientific infrastructure. We have plans for construction and major renovations. We will work on all of this with the ministry.
In an interview with Tambov media, Valery Falkov emphasized the special role of universities in regional development and noted some of Derzhavin University's successes in this regard.
- A university is a place where people receive higher education and start families, - Valery Falkov emphasized. - A university sets the agenda and attracts talented people to the region. Together with our colleagues from regional government bodies, we are primarily interested in a long-term five-year program to upgrade infrastructure. Any university offers comfortable dormitory accommodations, convenient and modernly equipped classrooms, and laboratories. Last year, we supported Derzhavin University with a subsidy for major renovations, and today we see completely different educational conditions.
