A delegation of teachers and students from the Korle-Klottey Municipality of Ghana visited Tambov State University named after G.R. Derzhavin. The visit of the international students was made possible thanks to the support of Yevgeny Pervyshov, Governor of the Tambov Region, the collaboration of Pavel Moiseyev, Rector of Derzhavin University, and Alexey Plakhotnikov, Mayor of Kotovsk, as well as the leadership of the Accra Municipal Assembly, headed by Alfred Allotey-Geysie, Mayor of Korle-Klottey.
There are 261 municipalities in Ghana, and Korle-Klottey is one of the administrative districts of Greater Accra, the capital of the Republic of Ghana. It is known for its high population density and vibrant business scene. In March 2026, a delegation from the Korle-Klotti Municipal Assembly visited, during which agreements were reached for students from Korle-Klotti Municipality's comprehensive schools to attend the "Koster" country health camp in the Kotovsk urban district.
"International students are visiting our university as part of the 'Summer in Derzhavin University' cultural and educational project. They are introduced to the infrastructure and opportunities for applying to the university after graduating from high school. They are informed about the admissions requirements for international applicants, the study programs, dormitory accommodation options, and student life," commented Elena Zueva, Vice-Rector for International Affairs at Derzhavin University. "At the 'In the Heart of Russia' international Russian language club, which is being implemented as part of the project with the support of the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs, the students will have a Russian language lesson and be introduced to Russian folk songs and dances." The students have already visited the Tsunami Student Media Center, where they tried their hand at being journalists. They will also enjoy excursions around Tambov, including to the TAKF confectionery factory and the Tambov Region Museum and Exhibition Center. A master class on Russian painting will be held at the regional art gallery.
Such visits are part of Derzhavin University's strategy for international humanitarian cooperation with African countries. Developing educational exchanges with the Korle-Klottey Municipality creates a solid foundation for further partnership between Russia and Ghana in the field of education.
