The Russian Science Foundation has summed up the results of the regional grant competition for individual scientific groups. Derzhavin University received support for the implementation of a project dedicated to the development of scientific and methodological foundations for the creation of a fundamentally new generation of nanostructured preparations with pesticide and at the same time growth-stimulating properties.
“Smart pesticides based on a nanotechnological approach can increase the efficiency of regulating the number of pests over a long period of time, without causing damage to plants and agroecosystems as a whole. Reducing the negative burden on the environment is achieved through the controlled release of biologically active components and, as a result, a radical reduction in their working concentrations compared to traditional analogues - tens and hundreds of times. Such drugs have high export potential,” says Olga Zakharova, director of Derzhavin Research Institute of Ecology and Biotechnology, project leader.
Taking into account the provisions of the Strategy for the socio-economic development of the Tambov region until 2035, the development of such drugs and environmentally friendly methods for their production seems especially important for the region.
