A strategic session dedicated to the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) into the educational process was held at Derzhavin University. This is part of the project of the Tambov Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Education to develop a methodological system for the linguo-methodological training of future foreign language teachers based on AI technologies.
The experimental site at Derzhavin University is the Department of Linguistics and Lingvodidactics, where bachelor's degree programs are implemented for students majoring in Pedagogical Education (specialization: English Language) and Linguistics (specialization: Theory and Methods of Teaching Foreign Languages and Cultures).
The strategic session was attended by the staff members of the Department and an initiative group of students - scientific volunteers of Derzhavin University. The session was moderated by Professor Pavel Sysoev, head of the Tambov Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Education, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Maxim Evstigneev, deputy head of the Tambov Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Education, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, and Danila Sorokin, a research fellow of the Center .
- The strategic session that was held is a planned and regular meeting of the participants of the RAO experiment aimed at synchronizing work, - says the project manager, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Pavel Sysoev. - This time, for the first time, we brought together teachers and an initiative group of students to discuss the effectiveness of the AI tools used in teaching and adjusting teaching methods. The work turned out to be interesting and fruitful. Through such a dialogue, we better understand which AI tools are more interesting for students to work with and why, and how to maintain this interest when teaching a language and specialized disciplines.
At the session, the curricula for language disciplines and the content of training within the framework of specialized disciplines were adjusted, specific neural networks and web applications based on AI were selected, which are effectively used in the formation of language skills and the development of students' speech abilities.
The project of the Tambov Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Education on the use of AI in education was presented for discussion at the Russian Academy of Education, where it was proposed to broadcast the experience and developments of TSU scientists on the university platforms of the Scientific Centers of the Russian Academy of Education across the country.
