On the chamber stage of Tambov Drama Theater student actors of Derzhavin University presented a play “On the High Seas” based on the play by Slavomir Mrozhek. The course leaders are the chief director of Tambov Drama Theater Andrei Borovikov and actress Olga Siroto. The director is Maxim Mazykin, a 4th year student of Derzhavin University.
The play “On the High Seas” is a drama of the absurd. Before the show the head of the house of creative workers of Tambov Drama Theater, Irina Blokhina, told the audience about the features of this genre.
In the story, three gentlemen find themselves on a raft on the high seas after a shipwreck. When food supplies are running low, the heroes decide to eat one of them. When determining the victim, they resort to different methods - elections, discussions, scientific justifications.
Students began preparing the performance in September 2022. In the intervals between rehearsals, costumes and musical accompaniment were selected, details and scenery were thought out.
The play “On the High Seas” was the first to be designed by students of Derzhavin University and Tambov Drama Theater.
