The volunteers were involved in regional and university mass events, worked out algorithms and practical skills for providing first aid.

We helped in the fight against COVID-19, delivered medicines to the elderly, participated in blood drives. We invite to join our ranks not only university students and students of secondary vocational education, but also schoolchildren – our potential applicants. Participation in volunteer activities gives an advantage when entering medical residency, – comments Maria Nesterenko, coordinator of the Regional Branch of the All-Russian Public Movement Medical Volunteers, a 3rd-year student of Derzhavin University.
One of the most important areas of volunteer activity is the popularization of blood donation. By participating in donor campaigns, volunteers donated 19 liters of blood for seriously ill patients.
Derzhavin University students joined the "Universities for the Front" campaign, supporting the initiative to collect humanitarian aid for Special Military Operation participants.
Medical volunteers have implemented a project to popularize medical examinations and a healthy lifestyle. The guys conducted on-site health checks in Tambov organizations and enterprises.
Among the medical volunteers of Derzhavin University, there are also international students who are also actively involved in volunteer activities.
– I am studying General Medicine at Derzhavin University. I have been volunteering since my first year of study and I do my best to get excellent grades, – says Ali Maeen Alnusayrat from Jordan. – We give lectures on the prevention of diabetes, HIV infection, tuberculosis and other diseases. I have cardiopulmonary resuscitation skills, and emergency care techniques. In the future, I am planning to become a surgeon. The experience of a medical volunteer is very useful for me.
Medical volunteers and parents of most active volunteers have been awarded letters of gratitude from the administration of Derzhavin University for their active participation in the life of the volunteer movement and assistance rendered to practical healthcare. The awards were presented by the Vice-Rector for Education, Youth Policy and Educational Work Yana Radyukova and Acting Director of the Institute of Medicine and Health Preservation Nikita Voronin.
– A volunteer is a person who, while teaching others, learns himself or herself.
