An all-Russian project on popularization of the Russian language in African countries is being implemented in Tambov. It was initiated by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. The goal is to spread the Russian language, culture and Russian education in African countries. 15 lectures and teachers of educational organizations of the Republic of Uganda are taking advanced training courses in the program “Russian language and culture in the context of modern pedagogical technologies” in Derzhavin University.
– The Russia-Africa Forum, held in July 2023 in St. Petersburg, gave impetus to the development of relations between our country and African countries. Cooperation in the field of education, promotion of academic and cultural exchange programs, as well as promoting the study of the Russian language are goals that Derzhavin University can actively achieve,” says Derzhavin University Rector Pavel Moiseev. – I am confident that two weeks of work will reveal to our African colleagues the potential of our university and the Tambov region in establishing intercultural communication. Russia is not only the capital and large cities: the regions also have their advantages.
Derzhavin niversity organizes a platform for intercultural communication. From 26 October to 7 November, participants will study interactive techniques and modern pedagogical technologies for teaching the Russian language. The educational program is supported by a cultural one. Guests will be introduced to the theatrical and musical life of the town, folk groups, actors of Tambov Youth Theater, excursions are planned to the Tambov Regional Museum of Local Lore, Tambov Regional Art Gallery, the Aseev Estate museum complex and the Tambov Theological Seminary.
“At school I had a teacher who spoke very interestingly about the Russian language, she called it the mighty language of great people, so my dream was to visit Russia and learn this language,” says Kamia Deograsias, a teacher from Uganda. – I spent my student years in Russia, and then returned to my homeland to tell my students about the beautiful and interesting Russian language.
More than 100 representatives of educational organizations from nine African countries will visit different regions and universities of Russia.
