On October 7, one of the leaders of Russian student hockey, the ice hockey club Derzhava, turned 12 years old. Over the years, the Derzhava hockey team has transformed from an amateur team into the champion. It has become an example to follow and a favorite sports team of the University.
The list of regalia of Dmitry Zobkov's team is quite impressive. Derzhavin ice hockey players are multiple winners of the SHL (Student Hockey League) Cups and Championships, winners of all-Russian student competitions, participants of the Universiade (Student Games), etc.
On their anniversary day, the Derzhava current team played against Derzhava OLD team, which included players from previous seasons from different cities of Russia. Among them are the Derzhava coaching staff represented by Dmitry Zobkov, Roman Gorbachev and Vitaly Karasev, Oleg Starodub, brothers Mikhail and Alexander Kovalskys, acting dean of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports Artem Savelyev and other friends and players of the hockey team Derzhava.
In the Generation Match Derzhava OLD put up a fight and snatched a 9:5 victory, but this match is not about goals scored or identifying winners and losers. Such games are about continuity, heritage, and the future of ice hockey. Over the past 12 years, the Derzhava has become a powerful sports brand of the University.
