The 8th "Galdym – Territory of Art" Youth Forum has kicked off at Derzhavin Tambov State University. The event takes place annually as part of a joint educational program between Derzhavin University and the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts (GITIS).
The forum aims to support young talent, foster conditions for students' professional and creative growth, strengthen cultural ties, and develop creative initiatives. Participants traditionally include students majoring in Acting from Derzhavin University and students from GITIS.
The program features educational and creative activities, as well as masterclasses in stage speech, acting, and stage movement. Special emphasis is placed on small-group work, enabling participants to exchange experiences and hone their professional skills.
Over the course of nine days, students will engage in an intensive creative process, preparing stage productions and etudes across various genres. The works of renowned playwrights William Shakespeare and Anton Chekhov have been chosen as the basis for these performances.
The forum will culminate in a joint theater project, which will be presented to the audience on September 22 at the Derzhavin University Teaching Theatre.
Thanks to Derzhavin Tambov State University’s participation in the "Priority-2030" strategic academic leadership program, the students are working with leading faculty members from the GITIS Department of New Performing Arts Directions: Ivan Derendyaev and Irina Krugman.
The forum marks a significant milestone in the professional development of these young actors and serves to strengthen ties between two of Russia's leading higher education institutions.
