The 8th International Scientific and Practical Conference “Sayapin Readings” has been held at Derzhavin Tambov State University.
The event is dedicated to the memory of Tambov economist Ivan Sayapin, one of the founders of the economic school at Derzhavin University. This year, the conference is timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of economic education at the University.
– Today, celebrating the 30th anniversary of economic education at Derzhavin University, we are holding a traditional conference named after Ivan Sayapin. It was this scientist who stood at the origins of the economics department and the entire economic school of the University, – says Pavel Moiseev, rector of Derzhavin University. – Now, in the era of global changes, we have to comprehend the challenges and outline development paths, taking into account new political cycles, new national goals and priorities. The main question that we should think about following this conference is the future of economic education. Our task is to ensure the training of highly qualified economists who are in demand in any industry, taking into account the new economic realities.
Viktor Ivanov, the acting Minister of Economic and Investment Policy of the Tambov Region addressed the conference participants with a welcoming speech. In his speech, the Minister emphasized the important role of economists in the development of the region and expressed willingness for cooperation between the government and the scientific community, and also presented the main indicators of the socio-economic development of the region.
Participants in the online readings were welcomed by scientists from foreign universities in the Republic of Belarus, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, etc.
The plenary session discussed current issues of Russian economic development: spatial development strategy, specifics of monetary policy, structural aspects of economic growth, ensuring financial stability of business, etc.
Since 2007, the Sayapin Readings have been held in the form of a round table and have brought together leading experts in the field of regional economics. In 2017, the readings received the status of an all-Russian conference and became a platform for discussions of scientific experts from the Tambov, Voronezh, Lipetsk, Moscow regions and other regions. This year, the conference is acquiring international status, bringing together scientists and experts from Russia and foreign countries.
