The Derzhavin University Tourist Club took third place in the Open Asian Championship in the "Route - Water" discipline among hikes of the second category of difficulty. The results of the past season were summed up by the International Federation of Sports Tourism. Bronze medals were brought by rafting on the Pongoma - Kuzema rivers of the Republic of Karelia.
During the seven-day hike, the students successfully covered 121.5 kilometers and passed difficult rifts and rapids. The route was not easy – the team encountered river blockages, squalls and other difficulties.
“We know how much work is behind this bronze,” notes Anna Goverdovskaya, head of the Derzhavin Tourist Club. “We know how the guys packed their backpacks before dawn, how they discussed tactics, how they rejoiced at their achievements. This success is a well-deserved reward for the persistence, team spirit, and love of adventure that distinguish the participants of the Derzhavin University Tourist Club.
