The in-person round of the 5th International Derzhavin Olympiad in Russian has concluded. The event was organized by Tambov State University named after G.R. Derzhavin, together with Osh State University (Kyrgyzstan), Samarkand State Pedagogical Institute, Samarkand State University named after Sharof Rashidov, and the Urgut branch of SamSU (Uzbekistan).
The Olympiad traditionally aims to support and develop the Russian language abroad, increase interest in Russian culture, and foster a positive attitude toward the Russian language among young people abroad.
650 students from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Belarus, and Kazakhstan participated in the first round of the Olympiad. The top 75 students advanced to the second (in-person) round. This year, the final competition of the Olympiad took place simultaneously at several international venues. Faculty from the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language, International Faculty of Tambov State University named after G.R. Derzhavin, travelled to universities in Central Asian countries. Irina Mashenkova, PhD, Associate Professor at Derzhavin University, organized the venues in Samarkand and Urgut (Uzbekistan); Tatyana Dyakova, PhD, Associate Professor, conducted the in-person stage of the Olympiad in Osh (Kyrgyzstan); and Olga Dronova, PhD, Professor at the university, led the online stage, bringing together participants from Belarus, Kazakhstan, and China. Thanks to the coordinated work of the jury, the Olympiad was held at a high methodological level, maintaining uniform standards for all participants.
Following a tense competition, the winners and runners-up of the Olympiad were determined. 1st place went to: Eliza Alisherova from Osh State University (Kyrgyzstan); Maria Nemirova from Samarkand State Pedagogical Institute (Uzbekistan); Evgeniya Kalinina, representing Francisk Skaryna Gomel State University (Belarus).
2nd place went to Fazila Yunusova from Sharof Rashidov Samarkand State University (Uzbekistan); Miraida Matkarimova from Osh State University (Kyrgyzstan); Yulduz Akhmad kizi Avezova from Bukhara State University (Uzbekistan).
3rd place went to Zarnigor Bakhromova, Urgut branch of Samarkand State University (Uzbekistan); Sarra Ivanyan, Sharof Rashidov Samarkand State University (Uzbekistan); Durdona Mekhmankhodjaeva, B. Osmonov Jalal-Abad State University (Kyrgyzstan); Dilim Ravshanova, Khoja Ahmed Yasawi International Kazakh-Turkish University (Kazakhstan); Kanykey Dzhalolova, Osh State University (Kyrgyzstan); Ayana Kaimova, Osh State University (Kyrgyzstan).
At the conclusion of the 5th International Derzhavin Olympiad in Russian, the organizers congratulated the winners from Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Belarus and expressed gratitude to the participants for their contribution to preserving Russian cultural space abroad.
