Diplomas were awarded to graduates from Uzbekistan who studied at Derzhavin University under the double degree program for the first time (24 specialists in the field of Economics and 30 specialists in the field of Tourism). The ceremony took place at the Tambov Youth Theater. Vice-rector for scientific work and innovation of the Samarkand Institute of Economics and Service Dilbar Aslanova and rector of Derzhavin University Pavel Moiseev addressed the audience.
“Dear graduates, congratulations on graduating from two universities. For Derzhavin University, this is the first experience in implementing a double degree program, and it has yielded positive results,” noted Pavel Moiseev, “I am convinced that you have become universal specialists: you know the legislation well, understand the economics and tourism of Uzbekistan and Russia, and have a broad outlook. I think that in the future this knowledge will help you, and you will bring significant benefits to both your country and Russia.”
The double degree program has been implemented by Derzhavin University together with the Samarkand Institute of Economics and Service (Republic of Uzbekistan) since 2020. During its implementation, professors prepared joint curricula.
“Professors from the Samarkand Institute of Economics and Service and Derzhavin developed curricula together and collaborated a lot both in the educational and scientific spheres. We held joint conferences,” says Dilbar Aslanova, vice-rector for research and innovation at the Samarkand Institute of Economics and Service, “To implement the joint program, we chose those areas that are being implemented at both the Derzhavin University and Samarkand Institutes of Economics and Service, so that everyone could bring something of their own. Samarkand is a tourist center, so it is important for us to train personnel for the tourism sector according to international Russian standards. The financial direction is also in great demand at our university. There is a great need for financial analysts in Uzbekistan. I am confident that graduates of the dual degree program will fill these niches.”
The students studied in Samarkand for three years. Lecturers from Derzhavin University conducted classes online and went to Uzbekistan to give lectures at a partner university. During the final year of training students received knowledge at Derzhavin University full-time.
The implementation of the double degree programs continues. In 2025, the second graduating class will receive diplomas.
