A panel session "Russia and Peru in a Multipolar World," was held at Derzhavin University. The event took place as part of a visit by the delegation from the National University of the Altiplano of Puno (Republic of Peru), led by Rector Paulino Machaca Ari.
- This year, Derzhavin University is exploring Latin American area for academic collaboration. This is a new chapter in the University's history, - commented Rector Pavel Moiseev. - In February, we signed the Agreement for Technological and Scientific Cooperation and Exchange with the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, laying the foundation for our partnership with Brazil. The visit of the Peruvian delegation is our next step towards Latin America. The fact that Derzhavin University was among the three Russian universities selected for partnership with the University of the Altiplano of Puno is extremely valuable for us. We have already signed agreements on educational and scientific cooperation, as well as international exchanges. This will not only expand the geography of academic ties but also create the basis for dual degree programs, joint grants, and student projects. The goal is to create a common scientific and educational space.
In his speech, Derzhavin University Rector Pavel Moiseev noted the historic nature of the partnership between Russia and the Republic of Peru and outlined three key areas of cooperation between Derzhavin University and the University of the Altiplano of Puno. The first one is the development of academic exchange, including training Peruvian students in the master's and doctoral programs at TSU named after G.R. Derzhavin in in-demand specialties, as well as the promotion of the Russian language through distance learning technologies on a free online resource. The second area is the intensification of joint research activities. The third one is strengthening Derzhavin University's status as an internationally oriented university and a "Public Diplomacy University."
As part of the open dialogue panel session, a briefing with students was held. The participants discussed opportunities for academic exchanges and areas of international cooperation, the prospects for education and science in a multipolar world, and the role of universities in relations between Russia and Peru.
The visit of the South American delegation concluded with a certificate award ceremony for completing advanced training in the "Public Diplomacy" program, developed at Derzhavin University specifically for the heads of foreign universities. The guests from Peru became the program's first graduates.
The visit of the delegation from the National University of the Altiplano of Puno is part of Derzhavin University's strategy for developing international cooperation with Latin American universities and the International University Project. The next stage of this project will be the "Hablemos con Rusia" (Let's Talk about Russia) Summer School for young leaders from South American countries, which is to be held at Derzhavin University in June.
