The project-analytical session of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives "Support for Families, Birth Rates and Large Families Improving Demographic Policy in the Tambov Region" is being held at the Stromov Center of Derzhavin University. The event brings together representatives of the regional executive authorities, demography experts and students. The purpose of the session is to discuss key aspects of supporting families, stimulating the birth rate and improving the demographic situation in the region. Participants are developing effective strategies and new approaches to improving the quality of life of families with children in the Tambov region.
One of the key points of the session was the speech of the rector of Derzhavin University Pavel Moiseev. Speaking at the section "State of Public Policy", he presented the University's experience in implementing a corporate demographic standard. According to the rector, this standard is aimed at reducing the average age of first childbirth among students by providing comprehensive support for young families.
Derzhavin University has implemented a number of measures to support student families and students raising kids. Among them are the availability of a mother and child room and a short-term stay room for children, where student mothers can leave their children during classes; a "single window" in the student Multifunctional Public Services Center, where student families can receive comprehensive services for processing various documents; financial assistance in connection with the birth of a child (50 thousand for each spouse studying at the University or 100 thousand rubles for a single parent); a 50% discount on tuition for members of the Derzhavin University family with children; provision of an individual curriculum; provision of preferential medical care; provision of housing in a rental house under construction (the house will be completed in September of this year) and a number of others.
Pavel Moiseev emphasized the importance of University efforts in the area of birth rate stimulation and suggested considering the activities of universities to support families as a separate fourth mission along with the traditional functions of universities: educational, scientific and social.
Thus, the University acts as an important participant in the formation of effective family and demographic policy in the region, providing additional support to young parents and creating conditions for sustainable population growth.
