The final of the IX International Olympiad in Russian as a Foreign Language “Russian Language – the Language of Our Friendship” was held at Derzhavin University.
The Olympiad was held simultaneously at the Derzhavin University and the Urgut branch of the Samarkand University named after Sh. Rashidov (Uzbekistan) in face-to-face and distance formats.
More than 170 students and schoolchildren from Uzbekistan, Armenia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, China, Egypt, Kuwait, Cameroon, Morocco, Serbia, Palestine and other countries took part in it.
The Olympiad participants were welcomed by Elena Zueva, Vice-Rector for International Affairs at Derzhavin University, who in her opening address noted the importance of the Russian language as a means of interethnic communication, the in-depth study of which makes it possible to see the beauty of the Russian word and to comprehend the global cultural code of Russia and its people.
The final of the Olympiad included two competitions, in which philologists tested knowledge of the culture of our country, public speaking skills and expressive reading. This year's distance recitation competition was dedicated to the anniversaries of two of the greatest Russian poets of the 20th century - Boris Pasternak and Alexander Tvardovsky. Of particular interest to the participants was the first competition "Professional Communication: Biology, Anatomy, Medicine" for students of the Derzhavin University Institute of Medicine and Health Preservation.
“It is gratifying that the number of participants and the geography of the Olympiad are steadily growing,” noted the Olympiad coordinator, head of the Derzhavin University Department of Russian as a Foreign Language Olga Dronova. “This indicates not only the growing interest in the Olympiad, but also the high motivation of foreign students to study such a complex and expressive language as Russian.”

2nd place – Nyangu Ndiffo Adelfin Victoria (Cameroon), student of the preparatory faculty of TSTU and Fayzullaev Diyarbek (Turkmenistan), student of the preparatory department of Derzhavin University.
3rd place – Su Fundal (PRC), “Philology”, profile “Language and intercultural communication in the field of tourism” by Derzhavin University and Khudaiberdiev Ainur (Turkmenistan), student of the preparatory department of Derzhavin University.
Winners in the nomination "Professional Communication: Biology, Anatomy, Medicine" among students of the Derzhavin University’s Institute of Medicine and Health Preservation:
1st place – Abdusamadov Mukhamad aziz (Tajikistan) and Dayriyah Yasser (Palestine).
2nd place – Muborakkadamova Noza and Khaitov Farrukhbek (Tajikistan).

2nd place – Guabsi Hala (Tunisia), student of the preparatory department of the Lipetsk State Pedagogical University named after P.P. Semenov-Tyan-Shansky and Rakhimov Sevar (Uzbekistan), Urgut branch of the Samarkand State University named after Sh. Rashidov.
