The VIII International Olympiad in Russian as a Foreign Language “Russian Language – the Language of Our Friendship” was held at Derzhavin University in full-time and remote formats. The full-time tour took place simultaneously in Derzhavin University and the Urgut branch of Samarkand University named after Sh. Rashidov. More than 160 students and schoolchildren from China, India, Uzbekistan, Serbia, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Congo, Syria, Nigeria and other countries studying Russian as a foreign language in Russia and abroad took part in the Olympiad. The Olympiad consisted of a calligraphy competition and a main competition, in which participants competed in listening skills, regional studies, speaking and poetic recitation. This year the Olympiad was held under the sign of two literary dates - the 100th anniversary of the birth of Bulat Okudzhava and the 135th anniversary of Anna Akhmatova.
“The participants brilliantly demonstrated their knowledge of the Russian language, regional studies, as well as artistic abilities. We are glad that our Olympiad motivates young people from around the world to approach the complex process of learning the Russian language with passion and creativity,” says Olga Dronova, head of the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language of Derzhavin University.
