The Cultural and Educational Project School of Russian Language and Russian Folk Culture has been launched at Derzhavin University. The event was attended by teachers of Russian as a foreign language from eight countries, including Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, France, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Spain, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. This project was first implemented by TSU named after G.R. Derzhavin in 2024 and received a wide response among the professional community.
The School of Russian Language is important for deepening cooperation with educational institutions of foreign countries and strengthening the position and promotion of the Russian language outside the Russian Federation. The project is being implemented on the initiative of the rector of Derzhavin University Pavel Moiseev. Rossotrudnichestvo undertook a mission of the information partner.
- Last year, the School of Russian Language and Russian Culture was experimental in nature. Its participants were mainly teachers from the CIS countries. In 2025, over 300 applications from 20 countries were submitted, - noted the rector of Derzhavin University Pavel Moiseev, - Russian President Vladimir Putin speaks about the unifying power of the Russian language, which is a reflection of our spiritual and moral traditions, culture and identity, as well as the need to promote and popularize it. Derzhavin University has taken on the mission of a "university of public diplomacy." Having completed the program of the School-2024, its participants continue to maintain contact with the specialized departments of our University. An international club of Russianists - specialists in the field of the Russian language and philology - is currently being formed.
As part of the educational block of the project, the advanced training course Russian Language and Culture in the Context of Modern Pedagogical Technologies will be held. Teachers of Russian as a Foreign Language will take part in the media project of Derzhavin University, aimed at popularizing the Russian language in the world. The program of the event includes meetings with leading experts. In addition to training seminars and business meetings, the participants will enjoy a diverse cultural program. Thus, a trip to one of the largest ethnic festivals in Russia, Atmanovskie Kulachki, is planned, the traditional games of which are included in the golden fund of the intangible cultural heritage of the peoples of Russia. There will also be excursions to the sights of the Tambov region. In addition the guests will have a tour of Derzhavin University.
- I work as a teacher and translator of the Russian language at the Faculty of Sciences and Security of the University of Banja Luka. This is the second largest university in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In my country, many students love Russia and study Russian, since the historical ties between the Russian and Serbian peoples are strong, - says Sandra Cihoric, a teacher of Russian as a foreign language. - Russian is the most important language of international communication. Such projects as the School of the Russian Language are really important, as they help to broaden horizons and develop professional skills in the field of teaching Russian as a foreign language and, of course, give new acquaintances and an exchange of experience.
At the opening ceremony of the School of Russian Language and Russian Culture, the participants presented their higher education institutions, highlighting the scientific achievements and educational potential of their home universities.
- In the Republic of Uzbekistan, there are many schools, educational centers, universities where the Russian language is taught. The demand for its study is very high not only in large cities, but also in the most remote villages, - says Tamilla Mavlyanova, head of the Department of the Russian Language and Literature of Samarkand State Pedagogical Institute (Uzbekistan). - The Russian language opens up new horizons of knowledge, opportunities for education and cultural exchange. Many sources, books, and teaching aids are written in Russian, and a person who speaks the language can easily study other sciences and keep up with the times, so the Russian language school will help open the doors to a new world. It is important for teachers to master teaching methods and know modern approaches to teaching. Speaking Russian means knowing a rich and great history, and that is why we popularize the Russian language in our country.
As part of the opening ceremony, graduates of the Preparatory Department of Derzhavin University - Mossedzedi Mohonga Calvin Dominique and Mutele Manongo Hemerson from the Republic of Congo demonstrated an excellent level of the Russian language proficiency acquired at the University and recited an excerpt from Alexander Pushkin's poem "Eugene Onegin" and Konstantin Simonov's poem "Wait for Me".
