On the cannel of the Tsna river, on the initiative of the rector Vladimir Stromov, the Derzhavin Regatta on the technique of water tourism on kayaks-deuces was held for the second time, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the Tambov State University.
“In 2018 all our events are dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Derzhavin University. We are proud of our history and do not rest on our laurels but forge ahead, creating new traditions," said Rector Vladimir Stromov.” Derzhavin Regatta is one of the new traditions, which is aimed at giving students the opportunity to prove themselves not only in studies, science, but also in cultural and sports mass events. I am absolutely sure that the history of this holiday will be permanently inscribed on the pages of the history of the Tambov State University.”
16 teams took part in the competitions - two from each training unit, as well as teams representing the Federation of Sports Tourism of the Tambov Region, the Administration of the Tambov Region and the teaching staff of Derzhavin University.
“There are TSU students and teachers who have the category "Candidate Master of Sports in Sports Tourism". This year, the student team of Derzhavin University will participate in the campaign within the framework of the Russian Championship," said Alexei Yemelyanov, the President of the Sports Tourism Federation of the Tambov Region, the director of the Institute of Mathematics, Natural Science and Information Technologies. “More recently, sports competitions on the technology of water tourism in the suburb of Kotovsk have ended, where the leading countries have successfully performed, which proves the growth of their skill level. Derzhavin Regatta will be an important event thanks to which new people will join our ranks, the ranks of sports tourists every year.”
The start of the competition was given by Vladimir Stromov, TSU rector, and Pavel Gritskov, deputy head of the Department for Physical Culture and Sports of the region. They wished the boys a good mood and good luck in the competition.
According to the rules of the competition, four quarter-finals of four kayaks were held. The two best teams from each race came into the semi-finals. As a result of the two semifinals, the composition of the finals was determined. In the final race for the victory, representatives of the Institute of Mathematics, Natural Science and Information Technology, the Pedagogical Institute and two teams of the Institute of Law and National Security competed.
As a result of the final of the Derzhavin Regatta, the 3rd place was taken by the Pedagogical Institute, the Institute of Law and National Security won ‘silver’. Students of the Institute of Mathematics, Natural Science and Information Technology became winners of the Derzhavin Regatta.
“It is the second time that I take part in the Derzhavin Regatta. It's nice that I managed to improve my previous result and change the bronze to gold,” shared his impressions Anton Melnikov, a student of the Institute of Mathematics, Natural Science and Information Technology, the winner team. “I would gladly take part in similar competitions again in the future!”
For the first time, a special race was held at the Derzhavin Regatta, in which teams representing the Federation of Sports Tourism of the Tambov Region, the Administration of the Tambov Region and the teaching staff of Derzhavin University took part. The winner was the team of Tambov State University, the second was the team of the Federation of Sport Tourism, and the third were representatives of the Administration of the Tambov region.
The most active fans were also awarded. The prize was given again to students of the Institute of Economics, Management and Service.
