Three students from the Urgut branch of Sharof Rashidov Samarkand State University – Asilatkhon Solizhonova, Iroda Korzhovova, and Mokhinur Abdurakhmanova – arrived at Derzhavin University as part of their spring internships. The internship was made possible by the Agreement on Cooperation and Academic Exchange between the two universities, signed in 2024.
For four months, the girls will become part of the Derzhavin family of philologists, mastering the basics of their chosen profession alongside third-year Russian students majoring in Philology, specializing in Russian Philology (Russian Language and Literature). The girls' practical home will be the Faculty of History, Political Science, and Philology at TSU named after G.R. Derzhavin.
Asilatkhon Solizhonova, Iroda Korzhovova, and Mokhinur Abdurakhmanova will attend lectures and practical classes in such disciplines as "Methodology of Teaching Russian," "History of Russian and Foreign Literature," "Russian Stylistics and Literary Editing," "General and Developmental Psychology," and many others. In addition to the academic program, the Uzbek students will become familiar with Derzhavinsky's infrastructure and student life, immerse themselves in Russian cultural traditions, and learn about the history of the Tambov region and its distinctive character. This will contribute to the development of intercultural dialogue, strengthen international ties, expand their knowledge of the Russian language, and broaden their horizons, allowing them to see the world in a new way.
"We are very happy to have come to Russia, to Tambov. We've long dreamed of seeing this amazing country, especially since we are studying its language and culture in our own country." When the opportunity arose and your esteemed university invited us to come to the Philology program for a semester-long internship as part of an academic exchange, we didn't hesitate and immediately accepted. "We were given a truly warm welcome," say students from the Urgut branch of Sharof Rashidov Samarkand State University. "The philology students from Derzhavin University help us get used to the city, show us the most interesting places, share stories and invaluable experiences. This is so important to us! We've already made friends and feel like part of one big family."
