A new educational project "Summer at Derzhavin University" has been completed at Tambov State University named after G.R. Derzhavin. This is a summer educational school for Chinese youth who want to get acquainted with Russian culture and gain basic knowledge of the Russian language. The organizers were the Department of International Relations and the Institute of Continuing Education and Professional Retraining of the University.
Six students from the Chinese province of Shannong (China) took part in the project. This was made possible thanks to the partnership of Derzhavin University with the organization "Russian-Asian Hub of Higher Education and Ecotourism".
The project "Summer at Derzhavin University" included an intensive Russian language course, as well as a versatile extracurricular program. The guys were happy to visit the iconic places of Tambov, get acquainted with its history, and take part in various city events. At the family holiday "Rodnye - Lyubimye" international students introduced guests to Chinese calligraphy, and at the artisan cheese festival "PROsyr. PritambovieFEST" they presented the traditions of several countries at once, holding master classes together with students from India, Egypt and Angola. The guys also attended the International Day of Yoga, visited the Pushkin Library and got acquainted with its multilingual collection, and also took a boat ride along the Tsna River. One of the days ended with a Russian gastronomic evening with traditional pancakes, fritters, honey and kvass.
- A particularly touching moment of the program was the film show of the cult Soviet movie "Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears" with a translation into Chinese. This allowed us not only to get acquainted with Russian cinema, but also to touch the cultural Russian values and the way of life of past years, - shares her impressions project participant Lyu Yuguang.
The Summer at Derzhavin University school program not only introduced foreign students to the history, culture and traditions of Russia, but also contributed to the development of intercultural dialogue and the strengthening of international ties.
All project participants will begin their Russian language studies at the preparatory faculty this year.
