For the eighth time, Tambov State University named after G.R. Derzhavin became one of the regional venues for the international historical event "Victory Dictation." Students from various fields of study, teachers, and schoolchildren from the Derzhavin Lyceum participated. In total, more than 200 people tested their knowledge of the history of the Great Patriotic War.
"The Victory Dictation has been held since 2019, and it has quickly become the largest history test in the world. Testing one's knowledge of the history of the Great Patriotic War in the lead-up to Victory Day has already become a tradition," says Pavel Moiseev, Rector of Derzhavin University. "The heroism of our people and the Great Victory continue to set an example and educate new generations. It's no coincidence that every seventh participant in the Dictation last year was a student.Traditionally, the event was held on the basis of Derzhavin University. And, most importantly, international students also joined in.
The test consisted of twenty-five questions of varying difficulty. Students were given forty-five minutes to complete them. This year, a significant portion of the assignments commemorated the 130th birthday of Marshal of the Soviet Union Georgy Zhukov and the 85th anniversary of the start of the Great Patriotic War.
"I'm a future history and social studies teacher. We wrote the Victory Dictation back in school, and this tradition is very close to my heart," says Anastasia Grishina, a first-year student majoring in Pedagogical Education (with two majors), specializing in History and Social Studies. "I prepared for the dictation for several weeks: I reviewed the dates of major battles, read articles about military operations and Georgy Zhukov, and watched documentaries. This event is a way to express respect and gratitude to our ancestors for their great feat. It's our duty to remember this."
A concert program featuring patriotic songs was performed for all participants of the Victory Dictation.
