The XV International Scientific Conference “Slavic World: Spiritual Traditions and Literature”, dedicated to the 225th anniversary of the birth of A.S. Pushkin and the 210th anniversary of the birth of M.Yu. Lermontov, is being held at Derzhavin University.
On May 24, the whole world celebrates the Day of Slavic Literature and Culture, remembering the creators of Slavic writing - Cyril and Methodius. Towards this date, Derzhavin University annually holds Days of Slavic Literature and Orthodox Culture, which include scientific and educational events. One of them is the conference “Slavic World: Spiritual Traditions and Literature.” More than 100 scientists from the Tambov region, Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Michurinsk, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the People's Republic of China, and Senegal are participating in the conference. The conference includes a plenary session and work in sections. The participants discussed the creative heritage of Mikhail Lermontov and Alexander Pushkin, current problems in the study of Slavic languages, problems of intercultural and interfaith communication in the Slavic world. Scientists also presented their works on the role and place of Russian literature and culture in modern society, their influence on the spiritual and moral climate in the country and in the world as a whole.
Guests were also able to visit an exhibition of publications from the collections of the Derzhavin University Fundamental Library, dedicated to the 225th anniversary of the birth of A.S. Pushkin and the 210th anniversary of the birth of M.Yu. Lermontov.
