The Third Freshman Festival marked the conclusion of a series of celebratory events at Derzhavin University dedicated to the Day of Knowledge. The event was initiated by the university's rector, Pavel Moiseev, in 2024.
In the new academic year, the number of first-year students reached 3,700. The most popular majors among young people were "Legal Support for National Security," "General Medicine," and "Pediatrics," as well as the "Jurisprudence" degree program.
"At the peak of its development during the Soviet era, our university had a total of 2,700 students; now, we have 3,700—just in the freshman intake alone. I think that’s fantastic," emphasized Pavel Moiseev, Rector of Derzhavin Tambov State University. "The vast Derzhavin community possesses energy, knowledge, and ambition. That means success is guaranteed this academic year. Onward, friends—towards new discoveries and achievements!"
Special attention was paid at the festival to supporting talented students. In 2023, Rector Pavel Moiseev established the Vladimir Stromov Scholarship. This year, certificates for the scholarship—worth 100,000 rubles—were awarded to ten freshmen who achieved a perfect score of 100 on one of the Unified State Exam (USE) subjects. The recipients of this named scholarship were: Murad Muslum oglu Allahverdiev, Ivan Bagan, Sofia Barkatina, Yulia Borisova, Dmitry Vinogradov, Angelina Ivannikova, Elena Kremer, Ekaterina Kozlovtseva, Maria Kolonchina, and Artyom Polovinkin.
"I scored 100 points on the Unified State Exam in Social Studies." "I spent two years preparing at the Derzhavin Lyceum, where the teachers contributed immensely to my knowledge," notes Ekaterina Kozlovtseva, a first-year student at the Institute of Economics, Information Technology, and Creative Industries. "I hope my time as a student will be one of the best periods of my life; I’m already looking forward to it."
Vitaly Suminov, Regional Manager at Alfa-Bank JSC, also presented certificates to five scholarship recipients of the "Alfa-Future" program: Stanislav Bulochnikov, Margarita Novikova, Anna Allenova, Vadim Semenov, and Igor Gerasimov. This program was created to help young talents turn their ideas into real achievements. Through educational tracks, internships, and projects involving actual business challenges, every Derzhavin student can unlock their potential and take a confident first step in their career.
The evening concluded with a prize draw, the highlight of which was a gift from the Rector—an Apple Watch.
