Knowledge Day for secondary vocational students and students of the Derzhavin Lyceum began with the Derzhavin University Assembly. Students of the TSU Military Training Center opened the celebration with a flag-bearing ceremony.
Pavel Moiseev, Rector of Tambov State University named after G.R. Derzhavin, along with representatives of the clergy and city administration, congratulated the first-year students on the start of the academic year.
- Today is a special day for all our first-year students. This year, we have about 3,500 of them. We see how the university infrastructure is expanding and developing; every year we present something new. And today, on the grounds of our renovated building, we are holding the Derzhavin University Assembly for the first time, - said Rector Pavel Moiseev. - I can confidently say that you have been accepted to one of the best educational institutions in the country. In 2025, our University, for the first time in history of Tambov region, entered the top 100 universities in Russia. This year, we admitted an unprecedented number of talented students to the Derzhavin Lyceum – competition was incredibly high. We can clearly see the growing interest from ninth-grade graduates in enrolling in our secondary vocational programs. This is how we are building a system of continuous education: after ninth grade, students can enroll in either the lyceum or secondary vocational programs, and then continue their studies at university. We are doing a good deed by nurturing young people who will be an asset to our region.
The first bell has rung for lyceum students and first-year secondary vocational students. This year, 510 first-year students were admitted to secondary vocational programs at Derzhavin Lyceum, and 188 tenth-graders joined the Lyceum.
- Today marks the beginning of a new academic year for all of us. I can proudly say that I am now a first-year student in the Nursing program at Derzhavin University, says Dmitry Studnev. - It's hard to pinpoint exactly why I chose medicine. My mother works in the field, and watching her work inspired me. Furthermore, Derzhavin University is one of the best universities in our region, and its medical program is considered one of the strongest. So I decided Derzhavin was exactly what I needed. I'll be studying for two years and ten months, and then I am going to graduate and become an ENT specialist.
