Russian Language Day was celebrated at the Salah Boubnider University of Constantine III, located in the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, with the support of the. Derzhavin Tambov State University. Representatives of the Russian Embassy in Algiers – Attachés Maria Ganina and Diana Urazova – participated in the celebration, along with university administration, faculty, researchers, and students from Algeria and Russia, and representatives of the university community.
The event was opened by the rector of the Algiers university, Chaabana Bouaiticha. In his welcoming speech, he emphasized the importance of strengthening scientific and cultural cooperation with Russian universities as a key tool for exchanging experience, developing scientific research, and improving university education. These areas of cooperation, among others, form the basis of the roadmap for cooperation between the universities.
Olga Dronova, a representative of Derzhavin University and head of the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language at the International Faculty, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. The program of events dedicated to Russian Language Day included a series of lectures and research papers devoted to the Russian language as one of the most important world languages and the bearer of a rich cultural and civilizational heritage. Associate Professor Galina Buyanova spoke about the key role of Alexander Pushkin in the development of the Russian literary language and the enrichment of Russia's cultural heritage. Through readings of selected works by the great Russian poet, participants were able to experience the world of Russian literature. Poems were recited by students from Algerian and Russian universities, a vivid demonstration of the depth of cultural exchange between the two institutions and the growing interest of students in Russian classical literature.
As part of the pedagogical portion of the program, Dean of the International Faculty Elena Davydova delivered a lecture on the use of game technologies in teaching Russian. She presented modern educational approaches based on student interaction and motivation. To add an additional cultural and artistic dimension to the event, Derzhavin’s volunteers held a master class on making traditional Russian rag dolls called "vesnyankas." Algerian participants were able to learn about this element of Russian cultural heritage in an atmosphere of creativity and lively interaction.
The Russian Language Day events concluded with a reaffirmation of the importance of further strengthening academic, scientific, and cultural ties between Algeria and Russia, as well as expanding cooperation between universities and research centers, opening up new opportunities for students and scholars in the area of international exchange of experience and knowledge.
