A New Year's series of events for international students, "Derzhavin Winter Wonderland", has started in Derzhavin University. It was organized by the Center for Social Adaptation and Intercultural Communication of the Department of International Relations with the support of all the university's academic departments.
The extensive program includes more than 20 New Year events - these are master classes, holiday excursions to the region's museums, watching theatrical performances, mass skating at the Derzhavin University Sports Complex. The culmination of the celebration will be a large New Year's celebration at the Institute of Medicine and Health Preservation
International students will take part in the photo contest "Winter in Russia", the "Wish Tree" campaign, within the framework of which they will organize a performance and concert for children from a boarding school, make their first New Year's toys from wood, and paint a picture of a New Year's tree under the supervision of a professional artist.
The program also includes a visit to a Russian hut at Derzhavin University Institute of Education and Social Sciences. Foreign students will learn about traditional Russian tea drinking and participate in thematic photo and video projects.
Derzhavin University students will come to visit the participant of the Great Patriotic War, veteran of the airborne troops, master of sports of the USSR, honorary citizen of the Tambov district of the Tambov region Vladimir Sevryukov to congratulate him on the upcoming holidays and hear important history lessons from him.
First-year students will take part in a special training session at the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language, where students will write congratulations in Russian and then send them to their friends and family. More than 400 postcards with good wishes, designed in a vintage style, will be sent to different parts of the world.
Father Frost will congratulate the most active foreign students by walking along a “secret” route at the university on the eve of the New Year.
– Derzhavin University successfully implements a program of social adaptation, integration and development of international students. We understand how important it is to introduce newly arrived international students to Russian culture and national traditions in an interesting and accessible format for them. To help them feel at home in a short time, and to provide senior students with an opportunity to implement their own initiatives, – says Elena Zueva, Vice-Rector for International Affairs at Derzhavin University. – More than 700 foreign students will take part in a series of our pre-New Year events “Wonderland in Derzhavin University”. The most active of them, who have successfully demonstrated themselves throughout the year in various events and projects, will be awarded with commemorative diplomas and gifts from the university.
