The Tambov stage of the "Hablemos con Rusia" ("Let's Talk with Russia") Summer School for young leaders from Latin America has begun. Participants include diplomats, experts, journalists, and representatives of the non-profit sector.
Program participants have already held a number of meetings at the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Federation Council, the Institute of Latin America of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the Russian International Affairs Council. The Tambov portion of the Summer School will include lectures on international security and public diplomacy by experts from Moscow and Derzhavin University, work on joint projects, and an extensive cultural program in Tambov and Michurinsk.
The guests from Latin America will be introduced to Derzhavin Tambov State University and its international activities, and will meet with Rector Pavel Moiseev to discuss potential areas of collaboration. Upon completion of the Summer School, participants will receive certificates and the opportunity to study or intern at Derzhavin University.
"The importance of Latin America to Russian policy is growing, and humanitarian ties are particularly important for building a broad dialogue. Derzhavin University is becoming part of this dialogue, and I am very pleased about it," says Rector Pavel Moiseev. "The 'Let's Talk with Russia' school is a significant event for us. Its outcome will not only be joint projects but also our guests' impressions of Russia—both in the capital and in the provinces. Derzhavin University continues to consistently strengthen its position as a 'university of public diplomacy.'"
The 'Hablemos con Rusia' ('Let's Talk with Russia') program has been implemented since 2023 with the support of the Presidential Grants Fund. It aims to foster sustainable expert, educational, and humanitarian cooperation between Russia and Latin American countries, as well as to develop a professional community of young leaders with a deep understanding of modern Russia, its foreign policy, economic development, culture, and current international processes. Derzhavin University is implementing the program jointly with its partners from the Creative Diplomacy Center, thanks to an agreement signed in March 2026.
