Members of the Tambov Regional Branch of the Russian Geographical Society – representatives of state authorities and the deputy corps, teachers and senior students of Derzhavin University, activists of the youth movement, experienced and just beginning their teaching careers geography teachers gathered at a round table in the Stromov Center of Derzhavin University.
Alexander Orionov, First Deputy Chairman of the Tambov Regional Duma, who actively supports the initiatives of the Tambov Branch of the Russian Geographical Society, addressed the audience with a welcoming speech. He told the young people about the development of economic and tourist potential of the region, about the ongoing work to restore the infrastructure of the sponsored Novoaidarsky district of the LNR, and expressed his wishes to the activists in successfully solving the tasks of the RGS youth movement in the Tambov region.
Elena Inyakina, the Chairperson of the Tambov Regional Branch of the Russian Geographical Society, Associate Professor of the Department of Ecology and Nature Management at Derzhavin University called on young people to take the initiative in addressing issues of development and popularization of geography, ecology and tourism in the region.
Igor Petrov, Head of the Youth Center, a PhD student majoring in Economic, Social, Political and Recreational Geography at Derzhavin University, made a report on the concept of the organization, its main goals and objectives, including the development of scientific research, educational, outreach and expeditionary activities, involving young people in environmental volunteering and educational tourism, and coordinating the work of youth clubs of the Russian Geographical Society in the region.
