Students with Disabilities
The University has a multi-level system for creating learning conditions for disabled people and people with disabilities, including activities for career guidance for disabled applicants, social and psychological adaptation of students, the use of health-saving teaching technologies, and assistance in employment.
Derzhavin University regularly trains employees and lecturers on the organization of inclusive education at the University. At all University facilities, employees have been instructed on issues related to ensuring accessibility of facilities and educational services for disabled people.
In 2023, 98 disabled people and people with disabilities studied at the University.
Accessible Environment
In academic buildings No. 1, 2, 3, 4 and in the building of the Medical Institute conditions have been created for wheelchair users; in the accreditation and simulation center - parking spaces, entrances, toilets, classrooms have been equipped.
Educational programs
For vocational training and professional education of students with disabilities and the disabled, the University has developed adapted educational programs in accordance with the individual rehabilitation program of the disabled person (if required).
Library
The Electronic Library and all electronic library systems to which a subscription is made have implemented the technical capability of viewing resources in an enlarged scale for the visually impaired.
The library collection contains 139 titles of educational audio and video materials in the amount of 422 copies, which can be used by people with disabilities.
In the reading room of the information and bibliographic department of the library (ul.Sovetskaya, 6) there are computer stations for people with disabilities.
Sport
For disabled people and people with disabilities, a special procedure for mastering the discipline "Physical Education and Sports" has been established based on the principles of health preservation and adaptive physical education. Physical education and sports classes are held in specially equipped sports, exercise and swimming halls or outdoors by specialists of the Department of Adaptive Physical Education and Fundamentals of Life Safety.
Health and Rehabilitation Center PARALLEL
Since 2012, the University has been operating the Parallel Health and Rehabilitation Center for the rehabilitation of people with disabilities. It is the only rehabilitation centre in the Tambov Region with unique rehabilitation and recovery exercise equipment and easy-access exercise machines for people with disabilities (pneumatic exercise machines from the Finnish company HUR, kinesitherapy machines, and a hippotrainer).
Hippotherapy Center
Since 2022, the University has been operating the hippotherapy center “Krylatye Kacheli”, which provides rehabilitation for people with disabilities, primarily those with musculoskeletal disorders.
Career Opportunities
The main forms of assistance in employment of disabled graduates are presentations and meetings of employers with disabled senior students, individual consultations of students and graduates on employment issues, master classes and trainings.
